Tenure-Track Position in Synthetic Biology
The Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry seeks applications for a tenure-track position, at the Assistant Professor rank. We are seeking a creative and visionary scientist in the areas of synthetic biology, metabolic engineering, and protein engineering.
We are particularly interested in multidisciplinary scientists that apply quantitative methods from electrical, chemical, or biological engineering. Areas of specific interest include, but are by no means limited to: 1. dynamics of genetic circuits, 2. pathway engineering for pharmaceutical, chemical, or fuel applications, 3. computational methods for system-level flux simulations to guide metabolic engineering, 4. single molecule methods to characterize cellular processes, 5. genome-scale and high-throughput measurements of transcription and translation, and 6. application of metagenomic data to engineering problems.
Applicants should have a PhD or MD degree. The successful candidate will be expected to establish a dynamic and interactive research program and will actively participate in graduate training in the Graduate Group in Biophysics and other programs. Laboratory space will be in UCSF’s vibrant Mission Bay campus.
