A bit of housekeeping

I’ve been worrying lately about the fact that the job ads I’ve been posting have been so numerous as to drown out everything else on the blog. (But it’s nice that so many institutions are hiring, isn’t it? Quite a change from last year). Also I worry that the local announcements etc. are an annoyance to people who come here only to read about science. So in an attempt to separate the wheat from the chaff, I’ve created two “parent categories” — Actual Science and Everything Else — and re-filed all my past posts under one or the other. The category list is at the bottom of the right-hand column. A few posts show up in both, e.g. posts about a paper (Actual Science) from someone who is also part of the Systems Biology Diaspora (Everything Else)
So you should now be able to click on Actual Science and get a list of science posts, free of all the clutter of the jobs you don’t want, news about people you don’t know, and the local events you can’t go to because you’re not in Boston. I hope this is helpful. I’d like to set up an RSS feed that just feeds from Actual Science as well, but I haven’t yet figured out how to do this. If anyone reading this is a better WordPress wrangler than I am, I’d appreciate advice. Thanks!
