Do you have an idea for an app that would be helpful to scientists?  Elsevier is offering $35,000 in prizes for the best apps to help researchers “navigate scientific content, improve scientific search and discovery, visualize sophisticated data in more insightful and attractive ways and stimulate collaboration” in a contest called “Apps for Science“.   The deadline for submissions is July 31.

And, not to be outdone, PLoS has launched a contest for an app to “make science more open“.  Deadline Sept 30.
