Shameless promotion time — Felice Frankel and Angela DePace have written a very cool book about how to make better scientific figures.  It’s called “Visual Strategies: A Practical Guide to Graphics for Scientists and Engineers”.   Steven Heller, a former art editor for the New York Times, just wrote a nice piece about it on his blog, and you can pre-order it here.
