Berlin is really hopping right now…
The MAX DELBRÜCK CENTER FOR MOLECULAR MEDICINE (MDC) BERLIN-BUCH
and the HUMBOLDT–UNIVERSITÄT ZU BERLIN (HU) invite applications for the
Associate Professor for Computational Biology
(Bes.Gr. W2, Reg.-no. 10273/2012)
The MDC is a biomedical research institute dedicated to interdisciplinary research in the areas of (i) Cardiovascular and Metabolic diseases, (ii) Cancer, and (iii) Function and Dysfunction of Nervous System. The institute is a member of the Helmholtz Association of National Research Centers, supported by the Federal Government of Germany and the Senate of Berlin.
The MDC is expanding in the area of Systems Biology, through the Berlin Institute for Medical Systems Biology (BIMSB), with high-level recruitments and state-of-the-art scientific technology platforms for genomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics and proteomics. We are seeking applications from outstanding individuals with an international reputation and experience in Systems Biology, who develop and apply computational approaches to understand the biology of gene regulation in eukaryotic organisms. Their aim should be to decipher the complex regulatory networks of transcription, translation or epigenetic regulation by analyzing and modelling data from diverse sources of information (e.g. deep sequencing, mass spectrometry, image analysis). Successful candidates will conduct visionary independent research, obtain extramural funding and engage in the further development of the BIMSB and collaborative projects in Berlin. Knowledge of the German language is not required.
The successful applicant will be jointly appointed by the MDC and the HU. Laboratory space and funds will be provided by the MDC. Candidates are required to fulfill the regulations for a professorship according to § 100 of the “Berliner Hochschulgesetz”.
The HU and the MDC seek to increase the proportion of female faculty members. Thus, qualified women are particularly encouraged to apply. Physically disabled persons will be preferred, if they are equally qualified. For enquiries about the position, please contact Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Rajewsky (firstname.lastname@example.org). For further information about the MDC/BIMSB and the HU please visit our websites www.mdc-berlin.de and www.hu-berlin.de. Please submit your electronic application (in one pdf file, maximum size 1 MB) including reference number, curriculum vitae, list of publications, an outline of present and future research plans and other relevant material by March 2, 2012 to Nadine Ewald (email@example.com).
